The seasonal events just keep coming as St. Pat's Day draws near. This weekend brings the annual Irish Museum and Cultural Center Gala, this year at the Intercontinental hotel. This is one of those swanky, fancy-pants, black tie deals. Which means that the Irish Fest directors who will attend this weekend fall into two camps. The women on our board will be beautiful, elegant, stylish and graceful. They will turn heads. Myself and the rest of the male contingent from KCIF will look like poorly trained chimps dressed up like waiters. We will turn stomachs. Lace curtain and shanty, all at the same table. But regardless of the mismatch, we'll be there, hobnobbing with Kansas City's Celtic elite and trying hard not to get thrown out before dessert. This year due to space restrictions at our table, we're all going spouseless, so that may not be as easy as it sounds. At least for the chimps.
Entertaining the attending swells this year are Kansas City Irish Fest alums Cherish The Ladies, Trinity and the O'Riada Dancers. Honored with this year’s John J. Sullivan Jr. Foundation Humanitarian Award, presented at the gala, is Tom McDonnell. The Museum website says that reservations needed to be in a couple weeks ago, but if you're interested in attending you might e-mail mmeyerfree@aol.com to see if they could squeeze you in. Hell, they'll probably happily give you my spot.

"Kansas City's Celtic elite"?
Danny, sometimes your muse gets the better of you.
Muse? I have a muse?
