Church, Pubs, Music And Euphemisms For My Butt

If you're like me, you don't like going to pubs. All that drinking and debauchery...yuck. But if you want to hear some Irish music this Irish time of year, what other options do you have?

Church, that's what. Tomorrow night, March 11 at Visitation Church, 5140 Main, and Friday night at The Church of The Nativity, 119th & Mission Road, you can hear The Music of Ireland presented by Charles Bruffy and The Kansas City Chorale. Both shows are at 7:30 and tickets are $17. The program promise to include "Hinbarra, Dúlamán, Wearin' of the Green, She Moved Through The Fair and of course, Derry Air." Derry Air, of course being the tune to Danny Boy, which though recently banned by at least one misguided New York pub, is still the most awesomely named song in history. And Derry Air of course being a homophone for one's bottom. Which is also pretty awesome.

Click here or call (816) 235-6222 to find out more about these two shows and the Chorale. Click here to see a picture of my Derry Air.

Is it not the Londonderry air?

There's no such place as Londonderry. Not in Ireland, anyway. It's Derry (Doire).
