And Speaking of Local Bands

This announcement of some great live acoustic music this weekend comes from Irish Fest alums Tullamore:
"On Saturday evening, March 22nd, Tullamore makes their premiere concert appearance in the US when they take the stage at Unity Temple on the Plaza. The Kansas City trio consists of Mark Clavey, Mary Hanover, and Rachel Gaither, and among Celtic bands in the Midwest, they are the rising star. This past Spring saw the release of their latest CD, "Wild and Wicked Youth", post-produced by the Tannahill Weaver's Phil Smillie. Since then, their noteworthy exploits include a ten-concert/sixteen-day tour of Ireland, and featured appearances at the Texas Scottish Festival and the Kansas City Irish Festival. They will be featured at the North Texas Irish Festival in March, and are finalizing plans for a tour of Scotland in June. In his review of their new CD, Lee Worman (The Gold Ring, KSMU) raves “Tullamore, quite simply, show themselves to be undeniably world class. Mark Clavey’s arrangements are nothing short of inspired. Whether with her voice or with her dulcimer, there is great depth, beauty and heart in every note Mary Hanover sings. Everything Rachel Gaither does is spot on... both her singing and virtuoso fiddling are imbued with immense energy and power – full of heart, full of imagination, full of life.” Unity Temple on the Plaza is located at 707 W 47th Street on the Country Club Plaza. Music will begin at 7:30. Tickets are $10, and may be purchased in advance (at Sheehan's Irish Imports, Browne's Market, Doherty and Sullivan's, and Mountain Music), online (at BrownPaperTickets.com), and at the door."
