Thinking Spring

The holiday season is nearly upon us here in Kansas City. And in spite of the snow, the cold (it's -1° as I write this) and the bone-chilling wind, we're starting to think Spring and St. Patrick's Day.

And so are our friends down at the Irish Museum and Cultural Center. They have an extensive calendar of activities scheduled to get you in an Irish mood.
  • February 17, 1 pm, Irish Talent Showcase, a non-competition show for any students ages 6 – 18 to sing, dance, read or present Irish-themed works.
  • March 1, 7 pm, Irish Trivia Challenge, sponsored by Guinness. Share the knowledge, heritage and camaraderie while enjoying refreshments and snacks provided by Guinness and IMCC. $100 entry fee for teams of 6.
Other events, with more to come:
  • Through February, Irish-American U.S. Presidents exhibit.
  • February 23 The Elders at Union Station, $20 IMCC members, $25 nonmembers.
  • February 24, a Civil War Irish Regiment Encampment and panel discussion on the Irish in the Civil War..
  • March 2, Irish Poetry, John Kerrigan, Rockhurst University.
  • March 8, Celtic Crafts Demo Day by the Society for Creative Anachronism.
