Band announcement? Ha, I say, HA! I'll go you one better. I'm giving you TWO band announcements today. Why? Just 'cause I can.
We're thrilled to bring two of the most exciting bands playing in Ireland today to the Kansas City Irish Fest in 2008. Bands who are the leading edge of a kind of music that for lack of a better term I'll call neo-trad.
Returning to Kansas City after tearing up the stage here last year is Beoga. If you saw them, I don't need to say another word. If not, believe me when I tell you that this Antrim based band of young virtuosos are some of the finest musicians you'll hear anywhere, and that they chose the name of their band very well. Beoga means "lively" in Irish.
And new to Kansas City this year, Slide, the group that RTÉ Radio calls "The next big thing." Coming from Dublin, Cork and Galway, the five men of Slide are...well, I'll let them tell you.

Fantastic sound. I've never heard of them.Thank you Irish Festers for bringing such great acts and opening my eyes and ears.
looking forward to 'em
Fantastic stuff. I've about had it with "Celtic Rock." Can't wait.
I think I'll like them as much as I like Teada -- which is to say LOADS! Speaking of Teada -- can we have them back next year maybe??? Ok, only if I don't like Slide better. It may just be a toss up as to which band I'll like better. Ah, hell.
