Some 400 years ago, the great Charles Dickens in his classic "A Christmas Carol", penned these immortal words, spoken by George Bailey just before Mr. Potter banished him to the island of misfit toys:

Or something like that. The point being that the holidays are running right up our collective back and there's nothing we can do to stop them. If you're like me, and God help you if you are, the week before Christmas finds you beginning to think that maybe pretty soon you should really think about starting your Christmas shopping soon.
