News From The North

There's an old saying that I can't think of right at the moment. Something along the lines of how even though bad things happen, good things sometimes come out of those not so good things. I'm sure there's some old chestnut of folksy wisdom, isn't there? Something about oaks and acorns, or rubber trees or something? It'll come to me.

Anyway, imagine I just regaled you with that bit of homespun common sense as I give you this bit of good news. In the wake of the untimely demise of the Glengarry Bhoys, who graced our stages this year at the Kansas City Irish Fest, comes word from the fiddler of that great band Miranda Mulholland of her new musical venture.

Mullholland Drive is described by the lovely and talented Miranda as "a celtic/bluegrass dixie-chicks type group." Joining Miranda, who has a lovely voice to match her blazing fiddle are fellow Canadians Marc Roy (guitar, mandolin, vocals), Jen Bryan (guitar, bass, vocals), Erika Nielsen (cello) and Robin Pirson (drums, percussion). I'm sure we'll all be hearing great things from the new group and with any luck we'll see Miranda and Mulholland Drive in Kansas City soon.

We'll be looking forward to hearing similar good news from the rest of the Glengarry alumni, because as you know...oh, what the hell is that old saying?

Miranda Mulholland is only feckin' gorgeous. As a fiddler, of course. You should definitely hire her new band.
