Limping In To Friday

Sweet fancy Moses, has this been the longest work week ever? The days have crawled by like a Galapagos tortoise through a vat of peanut butter. But at long last, Friday it is. So how about some Irish music and a cold Boulevard or two?

Eddie Delahunt of course is Mr. Friday as far as I'm concerned and you'll find him in his usual spot at Mike Kelly's Westsider, just in time for happy hour.

Bob Reeder
plays a bit later at 8:00, if you need to go home and shower before you head out. You'll find him at Kyle's Tap Room, up North.

Flannigan's Right Hook
are in the Northern reaches too, taking the stage at O'Malley's in Weston at 8:00.

Or, if you feel like doing a little scouting, go catch relative newcomers to to the K.C. Irish scene Connaught Town at the Record Bar in Westport. They go on at 6:00. If I don't make it, let me know if you think they're Fest-worthy.

Wherever you go, I hope I run into you.

If you're headed out to see Eddie, get there early because the Sheehan's will be celebrating our favorite matriarch's birthday with a little celebration. There may even be a bagpipe or two in attendance as well.

Sweet fancy moses. I like that. Can I use it?

Danny, Harold, Ann and I went to see Connaught Town not too long ago at Kenny's Newsroom. I think they have the potential to be fest material. They only played one set and I don't know if that's because that's all they knew or the set was too strenuous. They remind me of Flogging Molly without any politics.

Connaught Town isn't that good....too Flogging Molly wannebe. They might be better than Flanigan's Right Hook though...but that's not saying much.

Now, in my book, "not very good" and "might be better than Flanigan's Right Hook" are contradictory statements. Depends on taste I guess. :)
