Au Revoir to The Bhoys

Some very sad news to start your November with today. One of our favorites from the 2007 Kansas City Irish Fest The Glengarry Bhoys have officially called it quits as a band, making their appearance here at KCIF one of their last.

Says band co-founder, drummer and vocalist Ziggy Leroux:
...Somehow we always managed to stay ahead of the tempest: but alas, two 6 cm lesions on a gland in my mate's throat will be our Waterloo! Luckily it was found out early and with its total removal he'll be ok. His doctor, ever the humourist, said he might sound a bit like Lou Reed once his thyroid is removed but he'll be ok!

In short, touring at the pace we have for the last decade has paid its toll on all our systems I guess, and the time has come to take a final bow. It is not the way we would've liked to pack it in, but one never chooses when and how to schedule such calamities.

We didn't come to this decision easy I assure you. Tim, our terrific agent and friend, was tasked with canceling sold out houses throughout the fall and winter, but we just couldn't tax Graham's malady anymore than we had already.

There are no words that can effectively render our sincere gratitude. We will keep our site open. We will keep you in touch with our goings-on. We will no doubt dabble in music and recordings and we will not say goodbye...A tantot mes amis.

Thanks to Ziggy, Graham and all the other great musicians who've come in and out of the band on their trips through Kansas City over the years. I never saw a bad Glengarry's show and they will be sincerely missed. Best of luck, Bhoys and get well soon Graham.

That is sad, sad, sad news. They will be sorely missed by me, my kids (especially Cassie), and this community. (*sigh*)

I'll be sending my good juju to them.
