Ghoulies And Ghosties

Oh sure, St. Patrick's Day has better P.R., but for a really Irish holiday, the 17th of March can't hold a jack o'lantern candle to Halloween. The Irish were celebrating at the tail end of October long before good St. Pat arrived up to show them the error of their pagan ways. So naturally, with Halloween comes an Irish party. Call it a haunted hooley. A creepy ceili.

A Pooka Party.

Yes, Deadie Skelehunt's 4th Annual Pooka Party is this weekend, leaving you a scant few days to get your costume togther. I'm pretty sure I haven't missed a Pooka Party yet, and I'll only miss this one if I've joined the ghosts myself by then. New this year is the "American Gargoyle Ghastly Kostumed Karaoke Lack-of-Talent Competition." You and up to two of your ghoulfriends can showcase your musical talents before a distinguished panel of judges. Or maybe it's an extinguished panel of judges. Whichever, actual musical skill is not a requirement, and may be in fact undesirable, so don't let lack of same stop you from entering. For real music there's Deadie Skelehunt and DJ Irishman.

Pooka Party 2007 is this Saturday, October 20th, at Harling's Upstairs, Westport Road at Main Street. The cover is only $10, and any other donations to the Good Samaritan Project are welcome. Click the spooky poster at left for more info. Hope to see you there...though you may not recognize me.

It's says $10 cover on that poster that's too little to read.

Sorry. It is $10. And that poster will get nice and big if you click on it.
