We've all read and discussed them. Dave's just wanting to keep the discussion going if there are more people wanting to be heard.
How about Seven nations with an orchestra. I'm told they have scores available, and that Andy with KC Civic has already been courting them...
Not so much another band suggestion, but a suggestion to help out the bands: Have you considered a new category of volunteers(and a new t-shirt color, maybe purple?), folks assigned to each performer or band to help them over the weekend? For example, I loaned John Spillane our cell phone for a couple of calls Friday morning, we gave Dave Marsh a hand carrying all those instruments to a workshop since we were passing by, and I convinced Jimmy Crowley that he was, in fact, performing on the Atrium stage at 2:30, not 7:00.(!) Maybe "band liason" is the phrase I'm looking for. Or "go-fer". Make the t-shirts bright purple, and I'll be the first to sign up!
Yes Seven Nations with the Kansas City Symphony! They play all over the country with Symphonies and it is incredible!!! Soooo unique!
Pleased that the notion of 7N with a symphony was brought up by Brett. Just a few months ago, 7N was set to play with the Columbus, OH symphony at the Dublin Irish Fest at 1:30 on Sunday. The tent and surrounds were packed two hours before the concert. And then the rains came (we know that feeling!!! The park grounds were under mandatory evacuation because of the lightening forcing throngs of folk to either wade to their cars or to the community center or nearby school auditorium. When the all clear came, less than 30 minutes remained in the alloted time for a dash to plug the electrics back in and mesmerize the SRO crowd. To say it's jaw dropping is an understatement.
And the band LOVES Kansas City.

Even though they've played here before, would you be willing to bring back Hothouse Flowers and Teada?
I'd love to see The Indulgers and Penston & Harper come back if possible.

Are Penston & Harper still together as performers?! They'd get my vote if they were.

Sick of Seven Nations? No way. They do seem to play Kansas City an awful lot for a band that's not a regional band. But I don't mind at all.

Dear Anonymous, Hit you? Never.
The grand and glorious thing about KCIF is that the people behind the scenes work their fannies off making sure there is something for everyone...a band for every taste and eardrum tolerance. So if 7N is invited back and you're feeling a little queasy that day, there will other stages to satisfy your disposition. Viva la differance!

Oh... Did the act break up? I wouldn't know either way... I just remember seeing them at KCIF the first two years and really enjoyed their music.
I optimistically believe that if you hire enough Corkonians, you might eventually be able to understand what they are saying!
