At the recent National Spelling Bee, one of the way-smarter-than-me kids representing the Kansas City area was young Connor Spencer. Connor made it to the final 7 spellers getting knocked out in the 8th round with the word 'cachalot' which I believe was the name of one of the lesser known knights of the round table. His bio states that "he greatly enjoys Irish music and plays the Irish tin whistle competitively". Smart, talented and Irish. We're honored to be represented by such a fine young fella.
Well done, Connor!

Connor is, in fact, a student of Turlach Boylan of the Kansas City School of Irish Music. He is from Farley, Missouri (right next to the bustling metropolis of Weston, location of one of the city's finer irish establishments, O'Malley 1842 Irish Pub).
Also, did anyone notice that the spelling bee champ was also an Irish kid?
