If you've never been to Browne's Irish Market and Deli here in Kansas City, I'm not sure I should even be talking to you. This oversight is a serious matter if you live outside Kansas City, and nearly unforgivable if you don't. Browne's is Irish in Kansas City, and has been for...oh, just a few days shy of 120 years now. That momentous anniversary will officially be celebrated on the 16th of this month, and to the surprise of no one and the delight of all, John and Kerry are having a 120th birthday party.
What a party. The Elders, The Kelihans, The Lucky Charms, Eddie Delahunt, Jim "Mr. Stinky Feet" Cosgrove entertain. A moonwalk, crafts and games for the kids. Great Browne's food including Irish potato soup, chicken fingers & fries, grilled Italian sausage, Black & Tan corned beef sandwiches, and Browne's famous cookies & brownies. Beer, Wine, Baileys, Jameson's whiskey, and assorted soft drinks. Contests to award the reddest hair, best legs in a kilt, and the best scones...not in a kilt. And a raffle where I will win a trip to Ireland, and you can try for second or third which are also nice.
And the whole shebang is a fund raiser for Children's TLC, a wonderful group helping children with disabilities reach their full potential.
All the details on this great event are waiting for you here. I'll be looking for you there.
