As the great John Prine said, "The years went by like sweet little days, with babies crying, pork chops and Beaujolais." The days just seems to go so fast anymore. My son Joseph, a curly headed baby just a minute ago is a tall, handsome, brilliant young man in his last days of grade school. The world spins by at a dizzying rate and you just try to hang on, you know, in whatever way you can. I think that's why I mark milestones so fervently. If I stop and recognize the markers as time flies by, I'm not so startled to find that it has. If that makes any sense.
Anyway, that's why I want to invite you to a party. Yes, I mean you. This coming Wednesday, May 23rd is exactly 100 days until the opening of the 2007 Kansas City Irish Fest at Crown Center. Wednesday's also happen to find long-time Irish Fest performer Eddie Delahunt holding court at O'Dowd's Little Dublin on the Plaza. You see where we're going with this? Come on down. Eddie, Gabe and Brett start the music at about 8:00 PM. We'll celebrate the dropping of the third digit from our Irish Fest countdown with some Irish music, some surprises, some Boulevard beer and some good friends.
What the hell. If we can't slow time down, we might as well enjoy ourselves and wave as it flies past.
