Band Announcement, More Locals

A band who modestly refer to themselves as "Kansas City's 8th Best Irish Band" will join us at Irish Fest this year, and no doubt move themselves up a few notches in the eyes of some new-found fans when they take the stage.

Flannigan's Right Hook are another versatile trio, and when I say versatile I'm not kidding. What else could you call a band that includes both The Black Velvet Band and the theme from the video game Legend Of Zelda in their set list? Okay, schizophrenic might work too, but we'll stay with versatile.

But there's no need to take my word for it. Check them out in an Irish Fest preview this weekend as Flannigan's Right Hook-Cameron Russell on Guitar, harmonica and lead vocals, Shane Borth on cutaway fiddle and vocals, and Michael Cochran on drums and vocals-open for The Elders at Record Bar on Friday and Saturday nights.

I like them already. I haven't seen anyone smoke while performing since the Pogues!

Depending on your definition of Kansas City(local), Band(vs. performer) and Irish(vs. Celtic/Folk/etc.) They are probably correct at 8th.

1)Eddie Delahunt
2)Elders
3)The Fuschia Band
4)The Kelihans
5)John Morris
6)Bob Reeder
7)Connie Dover
8)Flannigan's Right Hook
9)Trinity
10)Rowan

Much as we love them here in KC, I think it's a bit of a stretch to call The Fuchsia Band local, since they all live and are based 4000 miles away from here. That's a big neighborhood. And since FRH claim the spot as our 8th best "Irish Band" not performer or singer, we can eliminate John Morris, Connie Dover and Eddie Delahunt...unless we're talking about Eddie Delahunt and Friends, where we include Gabriel Reyes and Brett Gibson.

Also Bob Reeder, wonderful guy, but not a band by any definition. So...who are these other seven?
