As you may know, one of my paying jobs is drawing cartoons for a major greeting card concern, whose name I won't mention but it rhymes with Ballpark. As a result I work with some pretty strange people. In point of fact, it's commonly known that most creative types are insane. These people, most of them, know that I work for Irish Fest in my spare time...I've bamboozled several of them into helping out too from time to time. Friends of mine from work have done the last three cow paintings for us (in exchange for beer. Creative types are also heavy drinkers), as well as created the giant Celtic cross and designed the pub front (also in exchange for beer) that you see at Irish Fest .
Because of my connections to the Kansas City Irish Fest, here at the card factory I'm often called on to answer the question, "is this offensive to you people?" when St. Patrick's Day cards are being planned. You'd be surprised how often I've had to remind people here that a four leaf clover and a shamrock are not the same thing. Chances are that if you've ever been offended by a St. Patrick's Day humor card from "Ballpark", you can blame me. A month or so ago, one of the most obviously unstable of my co-workers, the supremely talented Oliver Christianson asked me the "is this offensive to you people?" question about a project he was beginning work on. Not being easily offended, I said "not at all, sounds funny".
