Film Clips

You probably know by now that our dear friend and Kansas City Irish Fest star Máirtín de Cógáin was in a little film that won a huge award last year. The Wind That Shakes The Barley won the top prize at Cannes in 2006, and well deserved it was. And you know that the film will be released here in the States in March. You know that because I told you, right here.

But here's the problem like. Máirtín, with his long hairy beard and his long hairy hair bears little resemblance now to the clean shaven young rebel he portrays in the film. And what with the film debuting and all, how can he impress folks if they don't recognize him? How will people - important, powerful film people, know that he's the one they want for their next project, if they can't even tell who he is under all that hair? They might mistakenly hire Jonathan Rhys Myers or some other less deserving Corkonian by mistake. How will they know that they're getting the full de Cógáin?

Well, here's how. On St. Valentine's Day, February 14th, Máirtín is getting a haircut. And he's decided that, for a donation to a good charity, you can watch it happen. The shearing, or what Máirtín has dubbed Film Clips, takes place on that day at Eddie Delahunt's Cafe & and will be a fund raiser for the Jennifer Ireland Fund (note: this is updated information from what was previously posted here). You make a donation, you get to see what your man looks like underneath all that fuzz. And you get some of that good Cafe & coffee and help Máirtín help a good cause to boot.

All the details are forthcoming and you'll see them right here as soon as they're available. For now, tell your sweetie that you've got something really special planned for Valentine's day, and it involves a hairy Corkman in a Dub's coffee shop.

Who could resist that?
