Irish Music Tomorrow

If you can't make it to the weekend for your Irish music fix, you're in luck. Head up to nearby Atchison, KS tomorrow night at 7:00 for an evening of traditional and original guitar and flute music with Matt & Shannon Heaton. A session will follow the concert so pack up the fiddle or the box and bring it along.

If you're an Irish Fester, as I know you are, you may remember Matt and Shannon from their work with the great trio Siúcra. Matt has recently returned from an international tour in New Zealand and they both were featured instructors at the O'Flaherty Irish Music Retreat in Texas at the end of October. Currently on tour in the Midwest, they will appear in Atchison on Wednesday, and in Kansas City on Sunday, November 19th for an afternoon performance at the new Irish Museum and Cultural Center in Union Station.

This event is free for Benedictine College students, faculty, staff, and their families. If you don't fall into one of those categories, admission is just $8:00 for adults, $5:00 for students age 12 and above, children under 12 are free. For more information, please contact John Bunch at 913-367-0394 (home), 913-426-3445 (cell), 913-360-7442 (office) or e-mail him at jbunch@benedictine.edu or jfsbunch@yahoo.com

People must go see these two!

I first saw Matt & Shannon as two members of Siucra and they blew me away at the 2003 & 2004 KCIFs. They blew me away with their musicianship!

They just played a concert here in Kearney, Nebraska, tonight and they blew the crowd away! They played a benefit concert (proceeds going towards the Kearney High Band. I am the director) and the crowd was enthralled!

If people don't go to this concert they will be missing out on something special.

Not only are they outstanding musicians, they are the two most lovely people you will ever meet!

GO SEE THEM!
