It's going to be a cold, rainy night in our town, and a perfect way to spend it would be expanding your knowledge and understanding of Irish history, specifically the Easter Rising of 1916. As luck would have it, one of the world's foremost experts on that subject is in Kansas City this same cold, rainy day.
Lorcan Collins will speak at 7:30 pm, tonight, in Rockhurst University’s Mabee Theater in Sedgwick Hall, 5225 Troost. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Collins, an authority on Irish history and politics, has published a book on the Easter Rising and leads walking tours in his native Dublin based on the 1916 events. A limited number of copies of Collins’ book will be available for purchase and signing. The event is sponsored as a joint effort of the Irish Museum and Cultural Center, Rockhurst University, the Kansas City Irish Fest, and the UMKC English Department.
