It's that time of year again, friends. That second occasion in the rolling year when representatives of your favorite Irish Fest plop down in front of the Public Radio microphones and hit you up for money.
The money isn't for us. This is a cause we can all get behind. Our local NPR station, KCUR-FM 89.3 FM, is a long time and very valuable partner of the Kansas City Irish Fest. You may have seen some of their on-air talent grace the Irish Fest stages as emcees last month. You could hardly have helped hearing them advertise our event on the air in the weeks leading up to Labor Day. They also present the best broadcast of Irish and Celtic music in our area every weekend on The Thistle and Shamrock. Believe me, we need KCUR. And twice a year, they need us. They make pledging very easy and very affordable. And they give you free stuff when you pledge.
We'll tell you all about that and other reasons you should pledge this Sunday, October 15th from 1:00 - 2:00 PM during the Thistle and Shamrock program. KCIF Director Ed Scanlon, KCIF Site Host boss and Celtic Fringe president Sarah Walsh, and your's truly will be doing the begging. You do the calling. We'll read your name on the air, as well as any messages you want to send our way...as long as we wouldn't be violating any FCC decency standards by doing so.
Tune in, Sunday afternoon, 1:00 - 2:00 PM, KCUR FM, 89.3 on your dial locally or listen and pledge on line at www.kcur.org.
Pretty please.
