Anybody else bummed out that it's over?
Don't get me wrong. This festival is a staggering amount of work. 11 months of work for some of us. A non-paying full time job, nearly. And after all the months of preparation, Irish Fest weekend itself means miles and miles of walking, one little crisis after another punctuated by bigger ones, little sleep, and not a lot of time to really enjoy the fruits of the labor. It's exhausting, people yell at you, and you sometimes feel like the hired help at a great party.
But still.
Yesterday I walked through the Irish Fest site at Crown Center, where my other full time job happens to be located. The tents are down, the fountains are colorless again, the pub's gone, the stage is empty...you'd never know we'd been there. It kinda got to me. I know we all need the break. I know we'll start planning meetings next month for 2007, and start the whole crazy process over again. There'll be new bands to be excited about, new challenges, new crazy ideas that just might work, new solutions to old problems that probably won't work. I know that for some of our spouses and partners, it's good riddance as they welcome us back from Festland.
But for me...I already miss the old girl.
Is it 2007 yet?

Bummed out? Hell, this is my favorite time of year. I am getting about 5 emails a day from bands and agents wanting to participate in KCIF 07. I have a huge list of names to work from. This is great! If there is any suggestions, please let me know.
I just keep hoping that I can remember all the things I want to write down about it when I finally get to sit down this weekend.
Besides, KCIF isn't over til the stick on tattoos rub off.
I am sad also!!! I can't wait to get with the board toniht just to be with them again, rehash this year and start on next year. This is much better thab I ever remember Christmas being as a kid.
The heck with the tatoo stickers I'm going for the real thing!

Post Festum Depression? Does Tom Cruise know about this?
I'm not as bad as all you sad saks but it does seem like I waited for this all year and it was over before you know it. I had a blast working the fest for the first time this year and I will be back next year. till then.
p.s. just kidding about the sad saks part. sorta.
That first paragraph makes it sound so bad...
