Crafterdays

If you're a parent, I know you have the same problem I have: how to keep the kids busy on a Saturday afternoon. I mean, after they've washed your car, painted the house and fetched you a cold beer from the fridge, it's the same old thing. "We're bored, Dad!" There's nothing to do, Mom!" "But I don't know how to rebuild a transmission, Dad!"

Well, problem solved, a least for awhile. Starting September 30th and continuing October 21st and November 4th, you can bring little Sean and Siobhan down to the Irish Museum and Cultural Center's Irish Craft Saturdays at their headquarters in Union Station. Up to 10 kids ages 5-12 per session will work on crafty projects like a St. Brigid's Cross, a leather coin purse, and other stuff that they'll then turn around and give you for Christmas. Don't tell the kids, but there'll also be some learnin' going on as they get educated on the Irish history of the items they're making.

Best of all, all this craftiness and learniness will cost you nothing, if you're a member of the Irish Museum and Cultural Center. If you're not, it's still only $2. And additional craft kits will be available for $5 to take home to the kids you don't allow out in public.

Sound like fun? Well, sign up! Call the IMCC at 816-474-3848 to register. If you ned more information, either call that number or e-mail info@irishmuseum.org.
