Comments on the recently wrapped up 2006 Kansas City Irish Fest are rolling in. I'll be bringing you some of them over the next few days.
•If I were to request one band to see next year it would be Lunasa! I really enjoyed Wolfstone last year and would love to see them again too. Thanks for putting this festival on each year!
•We love the festival every year, but enjoy it even more when you book Ellis Island to perform.
•I went to the Irish Fest saturday. I only have one comment to make. i went out of my way to buy tickets in advance. When I got there I was told that they were sold out as well as the other stores so when I got there I had to pay full price. I think that was a really dirty rotten trick. Thanks!
•I flew in from Denver and had my first KC Irish Fest Exp. What a great Fest you put on. Pats on the back to all.
•This was by far the lamest event I have ever been to. I got there at 4:00pm thinking there would be alot to do until The Elders came on. I saw Black 47 and then walked around and saw everything there was to see in about 20 minutes. I could not stand to sit around on the curb for another 3 hours until The Elders came on so I left. There was absolutely nothing to do unless you wanted to buy a bunch of cheap crap you could have see for FREE at Santi-Cali-Gon. I cannot believe you charged $10 a person to get in...I can't believe I paid it. I would love to have my $30 back. Will never go again.
(Suggestions from this fest-goer for improvements to KCIF)
Drop the price...have more hands on entertainment. Instead of selling junk that was supposibly (sic) made in Ireland or that says Ireland, I suggest having someone there actually making it. Perhaps a replica blarney stone. A slide show of Ireland and it's beautiful landscape. Dance Lessons for Adults!!! - And a dance following the lessons. (Ed. note: We had this.)
There is so much to Ireland that you didn't even scratch the surface. Make it seem like a REAL IRISH FESTIVAL. Bring in a few goats if you have to...I don't care, just make it interesting and entertaining.

I agree with the last comment. http://fadeeva.com/a44.html
I think the last comment was 'the lamest' I've heard. If we have goats than why don't we also have sheep, heck let's turn it into the state fair and bring in all kinds of animals...this person must not have paid one bit of attention to his or her program in regards to the Irish events at our Festival. Sorry, KCIF Funhater, but I strongly disagree, and I can assure you many others would agree with me.
Oh, I don't know. He or she might be on to something. To me nothing says "fun" like a fake rock, a slide show and some goats. What were we thinking? No wonder nobody showed up to our "lame" event.
Looks to me that this person obtained most of their cultural information about Ireland from greeting cards. I certainly hope he/she/it attends many more Elders' shows. Maybe then he/she/it might learn a bit more what Ireland is "supposibly" about.
Hey now, let's leave the fine greeting card industry out of this!
I went to the Blarney Stone as a kid and it did smell like goats! My suggestion is to increase the price(half kidding) so the bottom feeder whiner bloggers don't go! Cheers to everyone else.
