Weather Or Not

I have a problem. An addiction...maybe a disease, I don't know. It hits me every year about this time.

Hi, I'm Danny and I'm a Weatheraholic.

As soon as we get a week out from the launch of the good ship Irish Fest, I start watching the weather forecasts. Obsessively. If I find one I don't like, I'll search for a better one. I know they change by the hour. I know you might as well flip a coin in this part of the country. But I can't help myself. Blame it on the rain-out year of 2003. Of course NOBODY that year predicted rain. But that's beside the point. I know it's completely irrational. I see that it's raining today and think "great, it'll get the rain out of its system now and we'll be dry next weekend", as if there's a finite supply of rain drops up there and once our quota is used up, we're golden.

So, I watch. I've worked on Irish Fests where the temperature, the actual temperature, none if this "heat index" nonsense, was 108. I've worked in perfect sunshine. I've worked in the driving rain. Haven't really had cold yet. I can't control one degree or one drop or one ray. But, I watch.

So I'll be watching. And believing that it's going to be beautiful. None of us can control it. But if you were of a mind to say a little prayer, light a candle, toss a coin, sacrifice a goat...whatever your particular Deity responds to, I wouldn't stop you.

By the way, www.accuweather.com says:

Friday Night, Sep 1
Partly cloudy. Winds from the ESE at 6 mph.
Low: 66 °F

Saturday, Sep 2
Partial sunshine. Winds from the SE at 7 mph.
High: 85 °F

Saturday Night, Sep 2
Partly cloudy. Winds from the SE at 6 mph.
Low: 65 °F

Sunday, Sep 3
Periods of clouds and sunshine. Winds from the SE at 7 mph.
High: 83 °F

Sunday Night, Sep 3
Partly cloudy. Winds from the SE at 7 mph.
Low: 62 °F

Sounds good to me. Now, where's that goat...

With all of the bodhran players coming to town, I think the goats probably move down river!
