Milwaukee

When I was a kid Milwaukee was a mythical place to me. See, my Dad worked for the local Schlitz distributorship. Remember, the Beer That Made Milwaukee Famous? That was at the time the only context in which I'd ever heard of Milwaukee. But obviously it was a famous place. Says so right there on Dad's beer can.

Well, now I know better. And what makes Milwaukee famous now, at least in the circles I run in, isn't Schlitz. It's Irish Fest. The bigggest and best there is. If you've been to the Milwaukee irish Fest, you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, make this the year you go see for yourself. The Milwaukee Irish Fest is next weekend, August 17-20.
Thirteen stages. Eighty bands, this year including Kansas City's The Elders. A beautiful lake front setting. And as if that wasn't enough, the Irish Fest is Milwaukee is run by some of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet and they never hesitate to offer advice or help to all of us little siblings festivals.

If there's any way you can attend, do. If not this year, then next for sure. It's well worth the trip. And don't miss the display on the Irish in film that our friends in Milwaukee will be bringing to Kansas City for our own Irish Fest, less than three weeks away.
