When I was in eight grade at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, our teacher Sister Scholastica (I swear I am not making this up) entered our school in a dioceses-wide math competition. There were 8th graders from 34 schools competing from around the city. Sister, being...oh, let's be charitable and call it "old school"...had different criteria for membership on our school team than you might think. For example, actual math skills were not required, a fact made abundantly clear by my inclusion on the squad.
Anyway, Math Fair day came and Charlie, John, Ted, John and I finished a distant 34th out of 34. It wasn't even that close. We could have scored better if we'd stayed home, thanks to some negative points for behavioral problems.
The point being this: I'm a math moron, an arithmetic imbecile, a numerical knucklehead. I'm not proud of that, but there it is. And so I stand in mute awe of people who can handle long columns of numbers, to me so many heiroglyphics, with such brainy ease. People for example, like Irish Fest's Shawn Moore.
Tell us a little about yourself Shawn.
I work at H&R Block World Headquarters and live in Lenexa. I have been affiliated with the IrishFest for almost 3 years.
What's your job at Irish Fest?
I assist (Irish Fest Treasurer) Ronan Collins managing the money operation during the event.
And you got involved with us how?
Ronan and I did the budgeting and organized the financial paperwork on software, creating a process to track the monies for KCIF.
What do like best about working on Irish Fest?
The people are wonderful. I truly believe the money will serve Kansas City well, the people involved have a genuine passion and I trust them all. I enjoy the event immensely as a participant as well, the music is wonderful.
Here's hoping Shawn has lots to do this year at Irish Fest.

What kind of mind altering Kool Aid(BLVD) have these two been drinking?
Who in their right mind would want to work with Ronan?
