A Quiz on Quiz

Did you know that the word "quiz" is thought to have invented by an Irishman to win a bet?

Richard Daly, a Dublin theater owner in the late 18th century, made a bet that he could introduce a lasting word into the English language overnight. The word he invented was "quiz".

Now that you know that little bit of trivia, you're ready for the big time, and the big time is the Boulevard Brewery/Kansas City Irish Fest/Drink: Your Guide To The Kansas City Bar Scene Pub Quiz. There are only two chances left for your team to qualify for the big final battle royale at Irish Fest, where the top squad of brainiacs will walk away with a cool five hundred bucks. Get you team together now for the July edition of the quiz, Monday the 17th at Boozefish at 1511 Westport Road. Team registration at 6:30 PM, quiz at 7:00 PM. If you're not familiar with the format yet, the questions are read aloud, answers discussed amongst your team and written down. Questions cover a variety of categories ranging from pop culture to geography to current events. This month features questions on Sex and The City, which I assume means the TV program and not just monkeying around in urban areas. But I could be wrong, so you better study both. That delicious Boulevard beer will be on special, and a good time is guaranteed. As always, the man with all the answers is your quizmaster George Vial, the Pride of Donegal assisted by the very lovely and equally brilliant Linh Trieu.

See yez at the quiz!
