Eddie

One name says it all, especially in Kansas City. Do I need to write anymore? You know the story. In case you've forgotten, I will remind you.

Eddie Delahunt is Kansas City adoptive Irish son. He has played more gigs in Kansas City than all our entertainers combined (I will hear some arguments about that one). He has given so much to the Kansas City Irish community than could ever be repaid. He is quick witted and humorous. He is a friend to everyone he meets.

Eddie grew up in Dublin, spent some time with the merchant marines and came to KC to play at Harlings Upstairs in the early 90's during the St. Patrick's Day season with John Redmond (John is performing on the Atrium Stage). Eddie fell in love, was deported, married Betsy in Ireland, came back to KC, married Betsy in the USA, moved next door to me, gigged everywhere, and opened Eddie Delahunt's Cafe &.

I had the pleasure of being in Eddie's backup band, Inishowen, for many years. We play every Thursday at Harling's for 5 plus years and shared the stage with The Wolfe Tones, The Commitments, The Dublin City Ramblers, and The Elders. Eddie's "friends" these days are Brett Gibson (accordion) and Gabriel Reyes (bodhran).

Eddie plays Saturday September 2 at 2pm on the Boulevard Pub Stage and Sunday September 3 at 12:30 on the Terrace Stage. You can also chat it up with The Man at his "Cafe &" at 45th and State Line.
