I'm going expand this blog's "raison d'etre for being", to quote my old friend Jennie Hanna, and tell you about a band that is neither Irish nor a past or future KCIF performer. Just because they're that great.
Everyone's favorite local Scottish beer rep, Gordy Briggs has a couple of sons playing in a superb band called Aberfeldy. All the way from Edinburgh, Scotland they're coming through town this week having just played at the prestigious South by Southwest Festival in Austin, TX. On Wednesday (tomorrow) they play at Paddy O'Quigley's followed by an early (7:00pm) gig at The Record Bar, on Thursday, March 23rd. DJ Robert Moore saw them at SXSW last year and said that they put on one of the best live shows ever. I saw them at the late great Molloy Bros. Irish Pub last year and I concur. Don't miss at least one of these chances to see this great young band. And if none of that convinced you, then let me just add this one word: Glockenspiels. I'm not kidding.
