Irish Heritage Essay - 2nd Winner

The 2nd winner of the Children's Irish Heritage Essay contest has been announced. It is 14 year-old Kevin Casey from St. Louis. Kevin's essay is a touching tribute to his Grandma Casey and can be read online. We asked Kevin to describe himself:

I was so excited when I received your letter saying that I had gotten 2nd place! I think its really cool, and now I can't wait even more to go to the festival - which is coming up! Thank you!!!

My name is Kevin Casey (obviously) and I'm fourteen years old. I'm also a freshman at St. Louis University High School (SLUH). I live with my mom (Judy) and dad (Mike) and have no brothers and sisters. The grandma I wrote about was Rosemarie (Casey). I'm on a swim club, in Boy Scouts, and like to read and watch movies. I also like collecting postcards and candy wrappers from around the world. That's all I guess, it might be too much.

Oh, and attached is a picture of my grandma and I. Thank you so much again, and I can't wait to get to the festival!!!

All essay winners are posted on the Essay Winners page as they are announced.
