It's Eddie Delahunt Day. Looking younger as he gets older, but not too old to keep learning new verses, Dubliner Eddie has recently released one CD - the singsong and session "Alive at O'Dowd's" - and is about to release another - the much anticipated follow-up to the hugely successful "Travelin'".
Once-upon-a-time we didn't have Irish Festivals; we just had Eddie, an Irish Festival of a man all by himself. Practically defining Irish music in Kansas City, his initials, EJD, are forever carved into our hearts - and in some cases, our furniture.
Oh - and the profile of Eddie Delahunt is now on the festival website.
And where the Delahunt is Eddie tonight? The Fields of Athenry? The Curragh of Kildare? The Good Ship Kangeroo? Monto? No, he's right here, Alive at O'Dowd's. Happy Birthday Eddie!
